Overcome Sin and Temptations

Overcoming Sin and Temptation is an extensive biblical study of holiness, sanctification, temptation, spiritual warfare, Christian character, perseverance, and final victory in Christ. Its central concern is the continuing struggle believers experience with sin after conversion and the biblical means by which they can grow in holiness through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The study begins from the conviction that the believer’s greatest battle is the battle against sin. Salvation removes sin’s condemnation and breaks its dominion, but believers must still contend with its continuing presence until glorification. The Christian life is therefore presented as a real spiritual conflict involving three principal enemies: the sinful nature or flesh, the fallen world system, and the devil. Nevertheless, the believer does not fight to obtain Christ’s victory but fights from the victory Christ has already secured through His death, resurrection, ascension, and continuing intercession.

Perhaps you have sensed God's call for years — maybe decades — but the path to formal training has always felt out of reach. Too far away. Too expensive. Too academic. Too disconnected from the Spirit-filled ministry world you actually live in. I understand that tension deeply. It is precisely why PSTM Australia exists.

We built this academy for the believer in rural Queensland who is already leading a congregation but has never had the chance to formally study theology. For the young woman in Fiji who burns with missionary vision but has no institution nearby to equip her. For the bivocational pastor in Western Sydney juggling a job, a family, and a calling — who needs credentials that honour his call without dismantling his life to get them. For the seasoned church leader in Papua New Guinea who wants his leadership grounded in something more than instinct and experience, however rich that experience is.

What we offer at PSTM Australia is not a watered-down correspondence course. It is a full theological curriculum spanning six schools — biblical, theological, discipleship, ministry, missions, and leadership — taught with the conviction that the Holy Spirit and sound doctrine are not in tension. They belong together. You will go deep into Scripture, from the Pentateuch to Revelation, from Old Testament Survey to Biblical Languages. You will work through systematic theology with care — Christology, Pneumatology, Soteriology, Eschatology — and you will do it as a Pentecostal, because Pentecostal theology has a distinctive, glorious heritage worth knowing and defending. You will not be asked to leave your experience of the Spirit at the door; you will be invited to understand it more fully.

You will wrestle with hard texts, engage with challenging ideas in Contemporary Theology and Apologetics, and be stretched in areas like Conflict Resolution, Safeguarding, and Leading through Change and Crisis.
